The Logic Group Customer-Not-Present Solution supports the entry of Card Security Codes (CSC) according to the CV2 and CVV2 formats. These 3 digit numbers, printed on the signature panel on the rear of a card, can only be known if the user has the genuine card in their possession. This global standard is present on all cards and is supported by all issuers.
CNP solution also supports the Address Verification Service (AVS) initiated by the banks to tackle Internet fraud. This system requests the entry of a postcode, which is then transposed into a numeric value. Solve/SE passes the relevant details to the card issuer for verification. Both techniques are designed to ensure that a fraudster requires more knowledge than just a card number and expiry date.
Statistics from Visa Europe suggest that use of these verification initiatives can reduce fraud by up to seventy percent.
