Asda, Woolworths and Shell the latest to install Gift Card Centres - Innovative solution provided by InComm Europe and powered by The Logic Group

14th April, 2008: - Fleet. Secure transaction specialists The Logic Group, working with its pre-pay technology partner InComm Europe, has supplied gift card centres to Asda, Woolworths and Shell petrol stations. This latest roll out follows on from Sainsbury’s successful implementation of gift card centres in 2006 and increases the total number of outlets by nearly 400%. Over 2,000 UK stores currently sell this new category from InComm, each gift card centre stocks a wide range of cards from a choice of over 40 different retailers and service providers.

InComm and The Logic Group enable gift card centres across 830 Woolworths stores, 551 Shell petrol stations and in more than 330 Asda supermarkets. Over the course of 2007 the range of gift cards available nearly doubled. The gift card centres allow shoppers to choose from an extensive range of gift cards from multiple retailers, which can then be redeemed for goods at each respective store.

This latest roll-out builds on the previous success of similar centres which The Logic Group and InComm implemented for Sainsbury’s in 2006, and the December 2007 figures for all transactions were 622% up from the previous year. The gift cards have no value until they are activated at the point of sale. The gift cards therefore act as a useful means for retailers to reduce shrinkage. More importantly however, Gift Card Centres are the next step forward for gifting. Not only can they help improve customer loyalty, they can increase store footfall and aid impulse purchasing.
