Everton FC outsource payment processing and transaction network infrastructure to The Logic Group
02 January 2007 – IT and card payment specialists The Logic Group, has today announced that they will extend their relationship with Everton Football Club and fully manage their card payment infrastructure. The new agreement means that Everton will benefit from not only The Logic Group’s Managed Transaction Service but also their transaction processing network – providing the secure delivery of data from all Everton’s sales channels, to The Logic Group’s secure data centres and then on to the acquiring banks.
“The management of our multi-channel retail IT network is becoming increasingly complex and time consuming as we continue to meet the changing demands of our fan base,” said Philip Davis, Systems Analyst, Everton FC. “Rather than spend time and money training our staff on the intricacies of non core applications, we have decided to outsource our requirements. This means our time is freed up to meet the needs of our loyal and valued fan base.”
As Everton FC’s incumbent payment processing provider, The Logic Group handle transactions from all sales channels including in-store PoS, internet and call centre environments. The Logic Group currently manages Everton’s ticketing, retail; call centre/mail order, hospitality and online commerce including merchandising and eticketing – transactions worth well in excess of £10m per year.
“The increasing demand we are seeing for modern IP networking clearly demonstrates the strong business case for updating legacy systems and infrastructure” said Mark McMurtrie, Marketing Director at the Logic Group. “Our Managed Service provides merchants with a cost effective solution and one less supplier to manage, as we now take responsibility for transaction delivery as well as for processing. Everton can be assured that their system is available and operating efficiently and securely 24 x 7.”
McMurtrie continues: “We see an IP network as the backbone of a IT department’s infrastructure, retailers who have adopted IP networks are recognising the significant benefits of cost reduction, greater bandwidth and more flexibility. Emerging technologies including IP enabled in-store TV advertising, IP CCTV and more established technology such as VoIP bring significant cost savings whilst offering an innovative alternative to existing practices. To ensure that these benefits can be fully realised, specialist skills and expertise are necessary, we have that expertise and are ideally placed to manage the complexity of this technology.”
