Knowing your customer in a meaningful way, gaining insight into their behaviour, is what all businesses are constantly striving to achieve. In its simplest sense, insight means understanding who your customers are; what they think; what they want; how to make them feel secure; and how you can shape your business strategy to deliver around these elements. In this issue of Logic Matters, we focus on what we as a company can do to look after specific needs of our clients, and their customers. We discuss payer authentication: making e-commerce secure and ensuring that our clients can continue to accept Maestro transactions online. We consider PCI DSS: highlighting how non-compliant companies will be deserted by their customers, but how the Standard will improve customer security. As a trusted provider of funds transfer, we outline the top ten reasons for choosing our Managed Service for Business Process Outsourcing. Customer insight can shape and direct business strategy and we consider the importance of testing and execution of marketing programmes in the Financial Services sector. We introduce four new key members of the sales team, and with industry-leading knowledge and expertise at our finger tips, we discuss the benefits of referring a friend or colleague to Logic Matters. Finally, we look ahead to Retail Solutions and discuss the services, solutions and products we will be showcasing to our clients there.

| 1. Payer Authentication: no security, no Maestro |
Seven out of ten people are worried that their financial details are vulnerable to criminals while shopping online. Recent figures indicate that consumers are right to be worried: online fraud has increased significantly in the last twelve months. To increase online security, from June 2007 MasterCard has mandated merchants’ use of SecureCode to protect against losses and as a condition of continuing to accept Maestro transactions for e-commerce. The Logic Group unveils its payer authentication managed service: a solution which helps to prevent, reduce and deter payment card fraud in the online environment and which will ease the concerns of online businesses and their customers alike.

| 2. PCI – why non-compliance equals risk of brand damage and significant financial cost to your business |
The payment card industry and the security of card data have been headline news for the past three months, as the national media dissected the most high profile and wide-ranging data breach and theft of customers’ credit card details from TJX, the owners of clothing retailer TK Maxx. The case offers a salutary lesson to merchants about the dangers of not following security best practice or ensuring the protection of cardholder data; however, the damage to the company in terms of loss of brand confidence, loss of sales, extensive clean-up costs post-breach, and customer disaffection is even more significant and profound. The Logic Group’s Director of Security Consultancy, Robin Adams, considers the fall-out and the full impact of what a security failure has meant for TK Maxx….and could mean for you.

Developing a customer insight strategy in the Financial Services sector |
Over the past decade there has been a significant increase in the availability of sophisticated marketing tools in areas such as analytics and campaign management. The amount of consumer data at the disposal of the marketer has also increased. These developments which have been particularly apparent in the Financial Services sector, have been designed to improve the understanding marketers have both of their customers and the efficiency of campaigns targeted at them, thus making the marketing process more accountable.
